Oh man! You're leaving stuff on the table. Make that link to Ginger clickable. Make it a teaser with a thumbnail and text. Put it front and back of your story. Make it go directly to the previous chapter. And make sure Ginger does the same to her chapter to point people to your bit.

This was a problem with ILLUMINATION Book Chapters. For someone coming in late - like me - they'd be seeing the story backwards. I did my best to get writers to have a table of contents so they could point readers to the start and then go clickety click chapter to chapter but the point seemed lost on a lot.

Here's the start of that Root 66 story I mentioned earlier. No ToC, but clickable little teasers. The book is a bit spicier; I had to dial it back for ILLUMINATION. And my Australian point of view may have missed some nuances of US culture.

But I had fun writing this!

Good ideas... I'm still learning to navigate Substack... I'd of certainly used better links to Gingers story, if I'd of known how!!🤦‍♀️ It's certainly on my homework list, and I'll upgrade our interconnectivity as soon as I can. I'm publishing strictly through mobile, so hopefully that's not a roadblock to doing so!!

Maybe not a roadblock but an obstacle. I have two widescreen monitors on my desk and I need every millimetre of that space. I'll comment, maybe restack from an iPad, but haven't tried writing. Medium didn't offer much from their IOS app so I got out of the habit when I moved away from WordPress.

Having said that, a writing collaboration can be a great experience. Each riffing off the other. I am working on a project with a young lady in the UK and it's fun though we make more progress when we're together than chatting or whatever.

I'm using Android, and it seems pretty functional. It's just some small things, like the interaction share button that doesn't seem to work for me (yet?). Of course, I could just be doing somthing wrong LOL!!

Years ago, I spent time with a friend developing a story or two, and it was such great fun!! Its funny how you might have an idea of where somthing is leading, but then your collaborator says somthing that's quite different. And you end up liking their idea much better!!

I'm pretty sure that if we broke our storys down into "who's idea was this part?", itd of read "mine, yours, mine, yours, mine...", ad nauseum...!!!🤣
